I have learned a lot over my 30 years as a commercial painting contractor. The things I would like to share pertain specifically to painting and waterproofing work in the state of New Jersey, especially along the South Jersey Shore.

Helping People with Commercial Painting From Weather Damage

As I’m sure many people know after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the New Jersey coastline is very susceptible to wind-driven rain and storm surge. Even well after hurricane season, South Jersey has to cope with nor'easters and all kinds of other geographically specific weather phenomenon that do not affect other areas of the country. New Jersey is unique in its weather patterns because NJ has the same extreme heat and humidity as Florida, yet we get the same extreme cold as Canada. These extremes cause the exterior surfaces of New Jersey buildings to expand and contract a lot more than other areas of the country. This drastic expansion and contraction i.e. movement causes the exterior surfaces to split and crack all the corners and joints more frequently would normally be expected. As a result of this additional movement, many of the commercial buildings in New Jersey have areas that are venerable to water penetration. Water can create all kinds of costly damage including but not limited to mold and mildew. In most cases after a thorough inspection, these problems can be remedied by caulking with the correct sealant and applying a waterproof elastomeric paint or similar coating to the exterior areas.
