I have written about color and its effect on us multiple times and for several publications. There is a lot of research as to the Psychological Effects color has on us. For example, blue can make a room feel as much as 5° cooler than it actually is, while orange can make a room feel 5° warmer. Green is calming, red builds excitement, purple and black denotes quality, and pink is initially calming. After someone has been in a pink room for a long period of time, the calming sensation wears off and the excitement of red tends to build.
The intent of this article is not necessarily to tell you about the effects that color on us, but to discuss the importance of making sure that your commercial interior space is properly kept, clean, and presents well. As stated above, the colors you choose do matter.
The Commercial Painting Impact
When somebody walks into an office, store, or restaurant they immediately form an opinion of the space. It is up to you to decide what that opinion is. It is all based on how well-maintained the area is and what colors have been chosen. Many large national retailers spend millions of dollars researching colors and buying patterns. They also spend millions of dollars painting and repainting walls in stores based upon the season.
DJ's Painting - The Commercial Painters
As a national painting contractor, I have been tasked with managing these painting projects on multiple occasions. One of the challenges faced by these large retail firms was to repaint several hundred locations within one weekend. They wanted to make an immediate impact by changing the colors of specific walls. This is no easy task. They needed painters in all 50 states to coordinate painting overnight. We not only managed the project, but we got it done ahead of schedule. The result was amazing. Everybody walked into their favorite store on Monday and realized it looked like a different place!
