School Painting Contractor Should Know These Things

Hands & Germs are Everywhere in a School

 

This blog is actually dedicated to the painting of Schools and other Government facilities in New Jersey. I will say one of the main things that schools all have in common is the amount of germy hands that touch the walls. I think some children walk around touching the walls on purpose for something to do. To combat the excessive surface contact the walls, trim, and doors face, companies have come up with a plethora of cleaning agents and devices. Many of these are extremely efficient and cleaning the surfaces and removing the germs. The problem is that they also destroy the coatings that have been applied. Chemicals people’s hands breakdown the paints, so it is extremely important when painting schools and similar facilities to use highly durable products. Such products could be epoxy paint and high quality polyurethane top coats where possible.  

Other School Issues

Preparation of high traffic areas requires more then just a quick wipe or dusting off. Degreasers and solvents may be required to properly clean the high 

traffic areas to ensuring a good bond. While I’m sure the issues we face painting schools in New Jersey are not unique they are quite important to be addressed properly. One of the additional challenges one painting schools in New Jersey are the time constraints. Many times projects have to be completed over holiday breaks extended weekends, must say… we are happy when we have an opportunity to do larger project in the summer.
